The Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques (FHR) is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization, with research efforts focusing on health, security, communication, energy and the environment.

The institute develops concepts, methods and systems for electromagnetic sensors, particularly in the field of radar, together with innovative signal processing methods and state-of-the-art technology in the microwave to the lower terahertz frequency range.

“Near-Earth space is of great significance for our modern society. We have become dependent on a variety of satellite-based services, such as communication, navigation and earth observation. Satellites are however increasingly threatened by space debris in low Earth orbit. Thus, observation and monitoring of satellites and debris by radar sensors is required. Fraunhofer FHR is developing an advanced, experimental radar for space observation. For this radar system, demanding technical and scientific challenges in the area of signal processing have to be dealt with.”

The department of Array-Based Radar Imaging (ARB) is thus looking for a research scientist (m/f) for radar signal processing.

Please see the attached PDF for further information about the position and how to apply.
