Announcement: SuperDARN Radar Talk at UCT

Background:

The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) has recently completed the construction and installation of a new fully digital HF (high frequency) radar as part of their international collaboration with SuperDARN.

SuperDARN is an international network of 33 radars distributed over the northern and southern polar regions, called the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network. You can read more about this fascinating project here.

Details of Talk:

SANSA Radar Engineer, Jonathan Ward, an alumnus of the Radar Remote Sensing Group at the University of Cape Town, will describe the 3 year project from conception through to final installation at the SANAE IV base in Antarctica.

This is a great opportunity to discuss project work, careers in Space Science & Engineering and student funding.
