Stephen Paine graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BSc in Electrical Engineering in 2014 before pursuing an MSc(eng), specialising in Radar and Electronic Defense under the supervision of Prof. Daniel O'Hagan. Upon completion of the MSc(eng) degree in late 2015, Stephen started his PhD research on Electronic Countermeasures Applied to Passive Radar, also under the supervision of Prof. O'Hagan. During his time as a PhD student, Stephen was head TA for the radar masters program.
Upon completing the PhD research towards the end of 2018, Stephen started working at Peralex Electronics as a Systems Engineer, responsible leading the team and helping to deliver the first commercial passive radar system to the SKA before taking up a position at armasuisse Science and Technology as a Scientific Research Officer in late 2019.
